EVOLVE

Was a bit exciting last week, finally getting the chance to meet Pat from Evolve MMA where Minol and I will be taking classes in the new year.  And a bit exciting to check out the new gym.  I had my first training there on Friday night.  I'm really looking forward to starting classes for the ladies as soon as we're settled over in Melbourne.  It's nice to feel that that Evolve is an extension of the Equipe Mestre Wilson gang and I hope to see the guys (girls) from Tassie come and visit us in Melbourne regularly!!   I aslo had the opportunity to meet some of the "Aussie Girls in Gi" (http://www.australiangirlsingi.com) at a GIG christmas party/roll hosted by Jess Fraser.  Had a couple of rolls but unfortunately didn't have much time for anything other than that.  Eeeeek, not long now until the big move!

Not another blue!!

YES!  Another blue belt in our midst!  Massive congratulations to Nicolle Mason Ferry who was graded along with Marcus and Mario today.  (Awesome sweeps Nic!!!)   I soooo wish I had taken a photo of Nicolle with her matching toenails!  More photos next week at girls class (totally need one of all our girls).  That makes four blue belts females in the club now.  Very proud of the commitment all the girls show each week during training- love em.

back in the day...

Ok girls, sometimes we don't like watching ourselves especially when we're rolling around like a lunatic on the floor.  But I think a great way to gauge how you are going and what you need to do to improve is to watch yourself.  I came across these clips- first one when I was white belt, then blue, then purple (it's hilarious watching myself in the first two... how much more do I know now!).  That's why I've posted a clip from training so you can check yourselves out!  I know you had no idea I was filming and it was your first roll but hopefully it gets you thinking about your game and how you are moving (or not moving).  Keep up the good work girls!  I've been loving our training sessions!

Pizza and CAKE!

Fiona, Rach, Sam & Ess
Fiona, Rach, Sam & Jacinta

A few weeks ago we got together for wood fire pizza at Fiona's place.  Yummo.  For dessert was this amazing cake (we had a go finishing it off but we struggled after all that pizza).  It's always fun getting together just to "hang"!  Thanks to Fiona for being the hostess with the mostess- looking forward to our next girls night!

In the news...

According to the president of the AFBJJ there are no other female black belts registered in Australia.  There's an Australian black belt female who lives in America but it's hard to know exactly how many female black belts there are in Australia.  Could be the only one...??

Brazil

Did I forget to mention that Jacinta got her blue belt in Brazil... and I got my black belt in Brazil?!  Sorry Jacinta for not mentioning that sooner!  What an experience to train in Brazil with Mestre Wilson.  He is amazing and so humble.  After 3 months the hardest thing about leaving Brazil was saying goodbye to Mestre Wilson and his team.  Even Daniel (hey Cinna!)

These Girls Rock

Can't help but say, what a great group of girls!  These girls are dedicated, never give up and are always keen to learn.  What more could an instructor want?  Oh and they are FUN!  And we like photo shoots... haha.

Another Blue Belt!

Yesterday, Saturday 2nd of July was a huge day for the club. Sam received her blue belt and both Paul and Phil were promoted to BLACK belt!! Sam has been training very hard and did an awesome job at the recent State Championship in Launceston. Congratulations Sam! That makes three blue belt females in the club now. It's great to see how far these three have come since the girls class started up last year.
